Attracting 500 exhibitors and over 6,500 visitors in 2011, the show continues to draw manufacturing professionals in increasing numbers. Over 450 exhibitors are already confirmed for 2012, setting the show on course for another record-breaking year. The exhibition space sold has now exceeded the entire area for 2011 and the organisers are predicting to add another 900 square metres of exhibiting companies by the time the show opens.

Southern Electronics is an event for all fields of electronics, engineering and manufacturing. The 2011 show appealed to a global market, attracting visitors from all over Europe, and exhibitors from as far away as China.

A key factor to the show’s popularity is the wide range of companies taking part, enabling visitors to meet a wide range of suppliers in a single visit. Exhibitors are organised into specific areas, which makes it easy for visitors to find what they are looking for quickly and easily.

The show also hosts an extremely popular free seminar programme over both days of the event. The programme is delivered by acknowledged experts in their fields, addressing both business and technical issues in manufacturing and electronics and designed to be of practical benefit to anyone involved in manufacturing and industry.

The seminar programme is split into two streams, one for electronics and one for more general engineering lectures. The electronics stream covers many subjects including innovation, regulation, efficient production and targeting new vertical markets. The engineering stream covers supply chain, materials and quality among other subjects.

New for 2012 is an Electronics Production, Automation and Machinery area, which is taking up most of Hall 2. This area will concentrate all the suppliers of production equipment and hardware such as motion control, sensors etc. In total, around 20% of the exhibitors this year will be new companies.

A theme that is emerging this year is the importance of medical technologies; there are an increasing number of companies involved taking part in the show. Visitor figures from last year reveal 18% were involved with medical device technology in one form or another. As a result a new session has been added to specifically address this area and highlight the opportunities within this sector.

Entrance to the exhibition and parking is free. The conference programme is also free, but places need to be reserved in advance. You can book at the event’s website: www.industrysouth.co.uk.
