Ultimate process control with in-line concurrent processing

09 January 2012

ACE Production Technologies has recently launched the KISS-205 fully in-line automated Selective Soldering system. It effectively splits the process of fluxing, pre-heating and soldering to gain productivity by reducing TAKT by up to 50% versus incremental processing.

ACE Production Technologies has recently launched the KISS-205 fully in-line automated Selective Soldering system

The new system will be exhibited at IPC APEX 2012, which takes place from 28 February – 1 March at the San Diego Convention Center, in San Diego, California.

“In the KISS-205, a PCB is fluxed and brought to preheat temperature, then sent to the second conveyor for soldering while concurrently applying flux and pre-heating the next PCB,” explains Alan Cable, President. “The bottom line result is that the KISS-205 is twice as fast as a conventional machine. Simply stated, the key advantages of the KISS 205 are speed and process Control.”

KISS-205 is a fully configured in-line SMEMA-compatible selective soldering system that includes these standard features:
• ‘Super Quick’ motion with closed loop position feedback with linear encoders for fastest processing times
• Rapid set-up and time to ‘first production’ with the intuitive KISSware off-line programming
• Dual universal PCB edge conveyor with program controlled width adjustment, positive PCB location and PCB flattening
• Dual pre-heater modules that are independently controlled with optical pyrometers
• Automated fiducial XY and skew correction
• Programmable features and components including ACE’s advanced design and performance Volumetric atomised fluxer and Drop jet fluxer

“The KISS-205 gives the user absolute control over all critical process parameters…” adds Cable, “…including, for example, the user-programmable solder wave flow rate.

All together, the KISS-205 enables user-definable process optimisation capabilities not found in comparable competitive selective soldering systems.”
