In your opinion, what is driving the electronics industry this year (as opposed to last year)? Is it the recovery or new, emerging technology?

The trend toward miniaturization of electronics packaging technologies is perhaps the most prolific driving force behind new product development for the foreseeable future. As an equipment supplier to the electronics manufacturing industry, we recognize that these emerging technologies continue to accelerate higher density PCB design, thereby adding complexity to the manufacturing process and stressing the limits of manufacturing equipment.

Electronics manufacturers are faced with investing in new manufacturing equipment that will allow them to cope with these new manufacturing challenges and provide them with a much needed competitive edge in their market. On the other hand, equipment suppliers are forced to either develop new products that address these specific industry requirements or risk extinction.
