This week our Indian correspondent, Anand Sethi, has highlighted what many people outside India suspected, and everyone on the inside already knew. India is the place to watch.

Anand’s article is the final piece in our 30th anniversary celebrations. Our correspondents have written up ‘line in the sand’ accounts of past, present and future of electronics in their regions.

Marco Pisano from trade association Intellect started the series with ‘Thirty years of outsourcing in UK electronics’ and Susan Mucha, similarly concentrated on the EMS sector in her contribution from the USA ‘Reflections on the most exciting segment of electronics’.

It is no surprise that the two articles from the ‘Western’ regions concentrated on outsourcing, whilst the two from the East concentrated more on indigenous growth in primary sectors.

Gordon Wong, our Asia correspondent, understandably focused on the economic miracle that is China in his column ‘30 years is true cause for celebration’ – 30 years, apart from being the lifespan of our publication, also coincides with the opening up of China to the world.

And this week the series concludes with Anand's 'Indian electronics - past, present and future', an equally upbeat account of how technology is leading phenomenal growth in India's electronics sector.

My thanks go to all correspondents for their excellent contributions and if any readers have missed out on them, I urge you to go back and read them all.
