Southern man takes off
04 February 2008
The Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Show embarks on its second decade of growth on February 6th and 7th 2008, with a new venue, improved facilities and a host of new attractions. Welcoming visitors to the show’s new home at Farnborough International Airport will be an exciting new programme of events and attractions.

Southern Electronic’s new home at the Farnborough International Venue & Events facility (FIVE) has allowed organiser European Trade & Exhibition Services considerable scope for expansion – opportunities which have been exploited to good effect, as ETES managing director Phil Valentine explains: “The move to Farnborough International is a really significant watershed in the show’s history. For 2008 we have added over 25% more exhibition space and some completely new features, such as our new specialist aerospace/ automotive engineering show Auto Aero 08, which will run alongside the Southern Manufacturing and Electronics events. Everything that has made the Southern shows so successful will be there - such as the free seminar programmes, technology trails and specialist areas - but bigger and better than ever before. We are confident that visitors and exhibitors will be delighted with the results.”
The technology trails will take the visitor round autosport/automotive specialists, electronic components & contract electronics manufacturers, aerospace & defence contractors, packaging & labelling solutions, marine engineering & offshore suppliers or specialist suppliers to the Pharmabio sector.
As the venue for the world’s largest outdoor exhibition – the Farnborough International Airshow - the site is ideally suited to the needs of this manufacturing event. Unlimited space for expansion and demonstration purposes, triple the amount of free car parking, easy access by road, rail or air, and a selection of local hotels and restaurants are just some of the benefits that both visitors and exhibitors will enjoy at the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Show 2008.
The show itself (both Southern Electronics and Southern Manufacturing), is entering its second decade this year, and includes exhibitors involved in latest technology, components, materials, products and services available in the South of England. Over 400 suppliers will present the latest in Automation and Robotics, CNC Machining & Tooling, Packaging & Handling, Electronic Components & Enclosures, Cable Assembly, Labelling & Marking, Electronic Sub-contract Manufacture, PCB’s, CAD/CAM/CAE, Control & Motion Engineering, Design & Rapid Prototyping, Test & Measurement, Workstations, Pressings, Castings & Mouldings, Fabrication & Fastenings, New Materials & High Precision Engineering.
