New beginnings in a bland year
16 December 2007
The last issue of the year. Holiday time. Possibly a relief to both readers and the team here at EMTWorldWide that your regular Tuesday fix will not land in your inbox again until January 8th, as most people (I hope) will have better things to be doing on December 25th and January 1st. If you don’t, or these dates have no religious or cultural significance to you, then please excuse the break while we recharge our batteries.

Because it has been quite a year. Well it has been for us anyway. Admittedly there may not be the same obvious highlights for the many others in industry. The looming threat of economic downturn has taken the gloss of what for most geographies has been a pretty steady year. Of course our remit on this newsletter is too broad (both by geography and market sector) to say that everyone has had it good, or everyone has had it bad, but if you take one of the most fundamental of market indicators, component figures, a predicted revenue growth of 3.5 percent (according to analysts iSuppli) shows that it has overall been an unremarkable year. I am sure such a bland statistic would raise a smile amongst the majority of companies who have had their individual triumphs, disasters and dramas over the course of the year.
The reason for it being such a significant year for EMTWorldWide was because it was back in the spring of this year that we made our debut. Through 33 consecutive weeks we have seen both increasing traffic through this newsletter and our web site, as we have added more features to the site as time has progressed and, more significantly, as you, our readers, have spread the word and passed this newsletter on to your colleagues. Please keep up the good work on our behalf – we are in the business of spreading information and we are always grateful when you help us do that.
So for the last time this year I will sign off. Thank you for your reading EMTWorldWide in 2007, and I promise you many more new features in 2008.
As far as I can tell just about everyone, irrespective of creed or culture, has some sort of break at this time of year. So I, and the rest of the team at EMTWorldWide, wish you all a Happy Holiday and look forward to your company again in January.
