EMS Village showcase for outsourced community

A dedicated EMS village, along with the Productronica Forum, both based in Hall A6, show the importance the organisers of Productronica place in this developing side of the electronics industry.
EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) companies have developed into full service providers offering OEMs and their like a truly comprehensive service. The capability of today’s leading EMS suppliers is no longer limited to design and development or production, but can now often include product testing, supply chain management, logistics and distribution as well as full after-sales services.
This growing trend has resulted in double-digit growth rates over recent years - Last year, sales in the European market increased from 21.4 billion US dollars (2005) to 25.1 billion US dollars (2006). The market research company iSuppli predicts a dis-proportionate increase to 33 billion US dollars, which corresponds to annual growth of approximately 11.5 percent. According to industry sources, increased demand for EMS in the automobile, medicine and industrial electronics industries is responsible for this sustained period of growth.
Productronica 2007 (Munich from 13 to 16 November 2007) plays an important role as a leading international trade fair for electronic manufacturing and as a link be-tween OEMs and CEMs (Contract Electronic Manufacturers), EMS suppliers and sys-tem suppliers. "EMS Village" in Hall A6 of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre will en-joy a good strategic position within the other exhibition areas for placement technologies, production logistics and material flow engineering and serves as an information and communication platform for the EMS industry and its customers. The number of exhibitors in this area has increased by up to 25% when compared to the 2005 event.
Many of the leading companies from the global EMS industry as well as many suc-cessful small- and medium-sized companies are booked to take part. Among these are Sanmina-SCI, a leading international supplier of Electronic Manufacturing Ser-vices that has specialized in integrated design and manufacturing solutions, VOGT electronic, a full-service supplier for component insertion machines and manufactur-ing of complete systems in the areas of automobile electronics, data and communica-tion technology, industrial electronics, medical technology and security technology, as well as Schlafhorst Electronics, an EMS provider for electronic printed circuit boards, power packs, wired circuit boards, control electronics and CAD and hardware systems with locations in Mönchengladbach, Germany and Lubsko, Poland.
The pressure from EMS suppliers across Asia is great, but European suppliers have been able to compete by developing their own manufacturing sites in Eastern Europe. At the same time, they gain from their proximity to customers, their experience of demanding production and development projects and their flexibility. In addition, there are cost savings in logistics and local communication. Small- and medium-sized EMS companies are also the preferred partners of OEMs when it is a question of producing in smaller volumes.
The economic and technological trends within the Electronic Manufacturing Services sector will also be hot discussion topics at Productronica 2007. At the "Productronica Forum", which will also be in Hall A6, specialists from industry and research will speak about these and related topics and answer questions from the audience.
