It’s big, it’s Bavarian… and it’s BACK
02 November 2009
Productronica, I think it is safe to say, stands alone when it comes to attracting the attention of the world’s electronics manufacturing industry. The big event is now only a week away and we have dedicated this week’s edition to the event and taken a selection of the products that will be on show.
Productronica, the trade fair for all aspects of electronics production, will be held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 10-13 November. It’s more than just an exhibition, as productronica has been the production industry’s global meeting place since 1975, and this year’s event will bring together more than 1000 exhibitors from over 30 countries.
In total, more than 75,000m² of exhibition space has already been reserved by companies representing every sector, from PCB assembly and test and measurement, to materials handling, contract manufacturing and logistics.
With the claim ‘World’s leading trade fair for innovative electronics production’ and the theme ‘Innovation all along the line’, new innovation has become the focal point of productronica 2009. Focus areas will examine those topics representing market sectors with real growth potential, which includes photovoltaic manufacturing, micronano production, organic electronics, electronics manufacturing, and hybrid-component manufacturing.
As well as these areas, visitors to Productronica 2009 will also be able to hear the latest thinking on key industry trends as they affect electronics manufacturing, including advanced packaging, automation solutions, efficiency, green electronics, test and measurement, and quality assurance. A number of events such as forums, panel discussions, roundtable events, and special shows will give visitors access to information on the latest forward-looking trends, topics and technology sectors. These exhibition highlights are a special attraction for the audience of industry professionals, and they do an impressive job of underscoring productronica's dimension as the world's leading trade fair for this sector.
The CEO Round Table is a public podium discussion with leading figures from the electronics industry and has long been a permanent fixture at productronica and electronica. It is being retained in its current form, but one new feature is a keynote address to be given by Ram Charan before the discussion. The mentor of the Munich Electronics Summit is Dr. Jürgen Gromer, a member of the Supervisory Board and former President of Tyco Electronics.
Although productronica does not officially begin until 10 November, it has already started online. Those planning to visit the show can learn about highlights, exhibitors, and the range of conference and background events by visiting: www.productronica.com. Furthermore, by pre-registering as a visitor, you can save money and avoid the entry queues on arrival. After ordering the entrance ticket online, visitors will receive an e-mail containing a link to their personal ticket voucher. This must be printed out and taken to the show and can also be used en route to the New Munich Trade Fair Centre as a ticket for all methods of public transport.
