Apex attendance figures released

28 April 2008

IPC has released the audited attendance figures for IPC Printed Circuits Expo, Apex and the Designers Summit, held from 1-3 April at Mandalay Bay Resort and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Mandalay Bay ResortParticipation in the educational offerings including the technical conference, tutorials/workshops, management meetings and designers day put the event in the IPC record books, with 2,773 educational programme attendees; a 45% increase over 2007 and a 26% increase over 2006 in Anaheim.

The figures also prove that Apex is global, as international attendance grew from 12% in 2007 to 16% in 2008, with representatives from 47 countries. Total verified attendance was 5,102. Furthermore, the exhibitor base was as strong as ever before, with 442 companies exhibiting. The exhibitor attendance for 2008 was 4,174, bringing total verified visitors for the event to 9,276.

IPC president Denny McGuirk said the responses from exhibitors and attendees validated the choice to move the event to Las Vegas. “Judging from the preliminary results of surveys from attendees and exhibitors, Las Vegas was an unqualified hit. When we asked, ‘How was Las Vegas as a destination for an IPC show?’ some 45% of attendees gave the event the highest rating; they loved it. To me the acid test for any event is, would the attendees recommend the event to their colleague, and 92% of the attendees who responded to our survey said they would,” commented McGuirk, adding that the average exhibit hall attendee spent 16 hours on the show floor.
